Hey guys,

Ive noticed that my bike has a quite destintive rattle when it gets to 5000-6000rpm. Its not overwelming but i can here it over my race can. Its a sort of metal on metal sound. My bike has a clutch rattle at idle anyway, and sounds sweet after 7000rpm, but its just this little problem area.
I have a road near me where there are 3 humpback bridges, so i am keen on a jump or two, so i could have bent something? or does this sound like a mechanical problem.

Cheers
Ben

first things first does it go away when you pull the clutch lever in?

if it sounds like tiny bells are going off in your engine, or like a chain is being dragged behind you while moving, then it's the camchain tensioner and/or camchain.
I also experienced a bizzar non-bell-like rattle about 1000kilometers before the bells turned on in the same rpm range as you describe; I thought it was a header pipe leak (header washers didn't help but a camchain did (still waiting for the tensioner from japan)). My bike had done about 41,000kilometers when all this started happening.
