I think i'm missing bits from my front calipers ie there is nothing other than the retaining pin should there be a dust cover and anything on the pads between the piston and the pad? It would really help if anyone has a pic of what it should look like.

have a look at this microfiche you will see the calipers including retaining pin and R clip and dust covers.

Cheers I should have thought of that! I am deff missing the dust covers will call cradley tomorrow and see if I can get replacements. the retaining pin and R clip that hold the pin in are there but no anti rattle plates, but cant see these in microfiche?

I think those anti rattle bits might just be on the rear. I've just re-built my calipers and only had them on the back and this microfiche shows them on the back too.

I understood that to be the dust cover? If I quote the part number off the micro whatsit they should know what I mean at cradley hopefully. I also thing I'm mistaking anti rattle plates for heat sheilds found on some pads :smt013

I though that was the dust cover too, but maybe it acts as both becase it's got the same part no. as the anti rattle bits on the rear.

the part numbers on the microfiches aren't complete part numbers so Cradley probably wont be able to recognise what your after, if you email them a copy of the microfiche and quote the part number they should be able to quote you the correct full part number and P&D

Good job cradley are arround! They are anti rattle "springs" they called them gave him the part number and he knew straight away. Both of them posted with screws for just £20 bargain! (if it stops the rattling) still they might be shiny which is always a bonus!

so do these things stop the brake pad from movin round or somethin cos i have the same problem as you i think.

they are like a springy piece of metal which holds the pads in place and stops them rattling, you should be smearing copper grease on the back of the pads too.

yea does it just drop out then or somethin i dont know ay what a pain. whats the copper grease on the back of the pads for?

allegedly, it stops brake squeal, although i'm not sure quite how it would

there's a pin that goes through the pads to stop them falling out, the anti rattle covers are there to stop them rattling clever eh and the grease stops corrosion and sticking to the pistons, also stops them squealing.

copper grease is fantastic stuff in general of course.
