I agree EF is better value Vic, but if you are down on power then EF is not so great. At least at Knockers you can still run at the front with less power due to the back of the circuit being more about ability.

I have to agree Knockhill is a more technical circuit round the back but you still need a fair bit of go to get you out of the hairpin and up the hill. I wasn't thinking so much about the power of the bike but more to do with his limited experience and the benefit of additional track time/value for money.

Well this is what I was thinking, wouldn't it be better to learn the more technical circuit first to improve my technique & also be more competative due to the lack of power & EF being a faster circuit? Tricky one! :-s

Naw Colin, unfortunately I got shafted and have to do the on call this weekend now. Bit of a bummer really as I was looking forward to coming out to play.

Any track time's good time. I was in your position last year just starting out, limited budget and a standard L3. Even dropped it about this time last year at Duffas Dip . First race I had I was dead last but high as a kite on adrenaline think the time was about 1:06. Then a few weeks later done East Fortune and really liked the track, more flowing rather than stopy/starty. I found good points with both tracks. On race day you'll find there'll be folk to battle with anywhere in the pack. There'll be a fresh influx of novices and standard bikes, even then I was catching quick bikes with slower folks last year. There's always a skirmish going on somewhere even if it's not at the front, still fun.

First year, get the times down, get used to the bike, see what other folk are running with, pick up tips for the tracks and most importantly enjoy it!!

Can't wait to get out on Sunday (Thank's Robbie for bringing my bike doon) was really jelous of you guys on Sunday.

East fortune gets my vote every time.But you will be mixing it with mini twins and pre inj 600 this year.But for the value you get a hell of a lot more track time.Practise say 10 mins qaulyfing 10-15 mins then 4x10 lap races.The track is more fast and flowing but still has a few stop start bits. but dont get hung up on the power thing when I went there in 08 I was on a (proddie)std engine nc30 and was up against formula zxr,s and did not to bad(sometimes).Just concentrate on learning the tracks,lines,getting your braking points etc and once it all comes together then think about the power.Spend your money on track time just now.Its the only way to get quicker.Plus with you living so far away does it not make more sense to make a weekend out of it?Just my 2p worth.
Btw testing this sunday £70 9.30 til 4.30

OK, you guys have convinced me! Was just about to buy a beet copy, ram air & bellmouths, but think I'll just put the money towards track time then!

Well..... fuel tap leaked, sounds like an exhaust valve's dropped, front tyre warmers burned through (sorry again Colin) and the exahust fell off my generator. Other than that it was like a dream.

Stayed dry but a little windy. Pisser about the bike as it felt really quick before expiring. Got out on Ray's 400 and put in around 1:10 laptime (my best so far) then borrowed Colins Triumph and went slower by two seconds .

So all in all had three fun sessions and set fire to one bike once arrived home.
