There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

do you have any specs or pics of the +1 pistons from JE. I have found that some of their pistons can be on the heavy side at times.

Dynotech are now having to use them due to the demise of the Kawasaki +.5mm pistons. They are slightly heavier and give different power characteristics, power and torque is slightly higher throughout rev range, peak is higher but power drops off earlier, same power at 15,500 revs as the +.5mm pistons but now no point in going there from a power as well as reliabilty to conrods point of view, drop shift change and rev limit by approx 500rpm.

What size are they though? I thought they were +3mm, ie 440cc kit? illegal in UK 400 class racing! Would be interested if they are only up to 1mm bigger though :smt001

I could be wrong but I think they come in a smaller non big bore kit as well. I think I saw them on a Jap site recently...

yeh, ive heard the beet pistons are very nice out of the box, but they dont do a +1 as far as i know, plus it looks like they have been dicontinued also, they may be made to order? dunno
Im pretty sure you have to machine the je pistons to get them to a better weight, etc...
they are here matey

Thanks for the link Jake.
We can only go to +0.5mm here was thinking of getting some made by Wossner.
With that bore size the standard head gasket will be protruding into the chamber, are you just grinding the standard one back. The kit ones are like rocking horse toad. Sorry to hijack the thread, valve prices here have gone through the roof. I have seen a few of ads for big HP engines in the UK using stainless valves. Any recommendations for suppliers for valves.

Beet pistons are very light, but I only know of the 3mm over kit as well. Maybe Mori Man can shed more info. I used Ferrea for stainless valve during the last rebuild. They're based in the US. The custom valves were cheaper than stockers.

Thanks for the info, did you deal with them direct or through a supplier/builder, I assume they have the specs for valve sizes now.

My motor builder ordered them, shipped to me. They didn't give us exactly the specs he requested, but very close. They were slightly oversize, not necessarily for more flow but add more life to the head as it is needed for valve work. But I did gain a few Hp after the head work and dyno time. :excited I'll see if I can find the specs and post them.
