You've got to be kidding me!?!?!
Right well i went out on my bike today and everything was fine, i rode about 40 miles and on my way home came to slow down behind a car at a roundabout and the bike just cut out, the dashboard lights went really dim then went out and i now have no electrics whatsoever on the bike. As i got off to have a look i noticed a strong egg like smell and a high pitched whistling coming from somewhere on the bike, i checked my oil level and it was fine but there was no coolant in the rad which is strange cuz the whole time riding id be glancing at the thermostat and it was sitting just above the blue cool bit and just below the first line on the thermostat.
Im gonna get in the garage now and check all the electrics, any ideas what could have caused it?

If it's broke spray it with WD40, if it's still broke spray it again and leave it over night, if it's still broke, bin it.

The sulphur you can smell is either your starter solenoid or your battery, judging by the symptoms of cutting out and dying on you i would say your battery is shagged, which could be a result of your generator packing up.
my guess is battery.so check your battery voltage and then check your battery electrolyte levels before the solenoid.

Well ive just tested the battery and its only giving out 5 volts, ive slapped her on charge.
the battery looks rather new and its a sealed varta battery so cant top up the electrolytes.
Gonna check the alternator once theres charge in the battery.

At 5 volts your battery is fooked and any hope of recovery could only be managed with an Optimate or simiiar..........even then it's highly unlikely to be recoverablesaka_ZXR wrote:Well ive just tested the battery and its only giving out 5 volts, ive slapped her on charge.

Certainly something is causeing the battery to lose it's charge...................could be rectifier or generator...................it could also be over charging the batterysaka_ZXR wrote:Right new battery time then.

It shouldn't take too long to spot the problem and fix it

test them both as per the manual. The genny is really easy to do just make sure you remember to put your volt meter on to AC current!!
These things are sent to try us!!

Well i have a specific alternator tester which doesnt need changing, the lights light up on the front and tell u if its working or not
