There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

SP CDI and Loom

Post by Davw »

Need help here - having layed out for the above and installed it on the bike it seems I hadnt done my homework!!! Is it the case that the SP CDI (or the F3 for that matter) wont run on a standard bike without mods to the pickup/ rotor? - that would explain why bike turns over but no sparks!!! Toad :smt013

Any suggestions??

Agree with Cargo about the rotor, but I think even with the wrong rotor you would get a spark, just at the wrong time. cheers, ben

The loom has a couplw of resistors in place - am going to try changing them for a new 100ohm to see if that helps as the wrong rotor should give me some sparks but nothing so far. I know that the ognition lock out resistor is 100ohm so will try that when i get a chance.

thanks for the steer towards Cradley - will give them a call tomorrow. I am hoping that the SP CDI is worth the hassle!!

thanks

i got an ignitech cdi and had the same problem. just needed to upload the zxr file to the unit and away it went. then i could adjust all the settings to what i needed. also has shift light and kill box for a quickshifter. if you need a rotor ignitech will make you one to your spec for 4 euros yes four. check out their site.

The CDI is a kawa unit and is not programmable (as far as I know) as it doesnt have a progamming interface - or am I being stupid!! :smt017

Good news - when they prcied the rotor yesterday the tech priced the "flywheel rotor" - the ignition rotor (what i asked for) is £35 :excited

Bad news - it is no longer stocked :smt009

However - the SP rotor number is 21007-1223 so I am on the case with other suppliers - good fun!!!!!!

To be honest I don't think Cradley would have ever stock a SP ignition rotor.

If your struggling to find one get back to me I suspect there's one lurking in my workshop somewhere............................
