After a big hairy-chested medallion of a GSXR1100, I think a TLR is the only stepping stone - either that or a fightered Busa!

first things first...ditch the steering damper you don’t need it, yes it shakes its head a lot but getting it back under control isn’t hard at all. When your riding don’t expect it to make ANYTHING easy you really have got to “take the bull by the horns” and wrestle it into doing what you want it to do! Hanging off the side like a monkey and giving it fist full of counter-steer are my two biggest tips!

Also expect leaks all over the place so far I’ve had go, clutch slave cylinder seal, output shaft seal, fork seals as well as numerous other mechanical problems. Had a couple of electrical gremlins and rear tires only last 1,200 miles tops…Brakes are crap and get heat fade all the time (I recommend putting something over your reservoir for when the fluid boils over..). Take your time on the first few times learning what the bike dos when you drop down a gear, I locked the rear up coming up to roundabouts lots of times just down shifting a gear!

On the plus side it wheelies like a madun, sounds awesome looks nice imo and handles quite well once you get used to it. It’s such a shame that Suzuki built such a crap bike around such an amazing engine it really could have been something quite special! Tbh if you’re not doing the millage I am on mine you shouldn’t have to many problems, just keep on top of keeping it clean, and get the suspension properly set up (will make the bike 10x more ridable!) Oh and you must get a TRE!!

Suzuki thought that we couldn’t handle the true power of the twin so they tamed it in the bottom 4 gears. Basically at anything but FULL throttle openings the ECU cuts down the power. A TRE tricks the ECU into believing that the bike is constantly in 5th gear thus giving you far better midrange grunt. It makes it stupidly easy to lift the bike onto the rear wheel!

If your handy with a soldering iron you can make your own for a about £3 or buy one for £20.

Rene’s second credit crunch must do mod is a throttle insert, I cant remember what one I went for but I think it’s a ¼ turn. Makes getting on the beans far easier because again in Suzuki’s mind we would all just flip the bike so they make the throttle travel stupidly long (possibly for the Yank market who don’t understand gentle throttle openings yet?).

And the final completely free mod…Rip all the emissions crap out, I cant remember how to do this from memory, I think the system is called PAR and it has flappers ect in the air box all to make the engine cleaner but it also removes quite a bit of torque in the top RPM (where the TLR makes most its power).

I am but I don’t go on there unless I need some help. I get annoyed at how the yanks refuse to see the problems with the bike and stick chromed out spinners and longer swingarms on there bikes and insist it makes them handle better. There is a few extremely helpful members though and I’ve brought a few parts off there now (mostly sensors as they f*** up all over the bike..)

So He's bought a Lemon then - boom tish!

Extended swingers in the states are because lots of places have no hills, twisties or even mild curves - straight lines to a junction. Basically "draggin" everywhere they go.......

Do everything rene recommends and get some termonogoli's (spelling?) on it

they came out of the factory as a lemon! Trust me all the problems i've had are far from uncommon read up on that site i posted and you'll see lots of owners having the same things happen.
