exhaust ports

hi all ive just started to strip the bike to night iam hopefuly going to be cleaning the engine and having most of the rusty stuff powder coated any how i took the exhaust off to start polishing it back up and the exhaust ports are really coked up you can scrape it with a screw driver and it just flakes off is this amount of build up normal :smt017 if it is ill just clean them up dont think they have ever been done before can any one shed some light on this thank you
oh and what are the small holes next to the exhaust ports if i rember right drainage :smt017 holes of some sort its just theres a bit of oily gunk arond these as well :smt017

I odnt know about the state of the ports, id guess that normal really.

As for the holes they are the drain holes for the spark plug channels, they allow any water to escape, oil coming out is usually a sign of leaking o rings that seal the tubes from the rover cover down to the plug recess.

Its a cover for scrap metal mate, stop it going rusty n stuff :smt002
