doubt it. the expensive part is getting the engine to fit the frame. Once that's done, it's just an old 2-smoke motor. Pretty sure RD350 motors are still pretty plentiful, so even if the 'race tuned' engine went pop you could chuck something in there that would work.

I assume when he says "cant use the carb without lifting the tank" he means the choke?

Still wouldn't buy it, but that's mainly because I don't want it. If I did I'd check it out and wouldn't be afraid of future costs.

I've seen a RS250 with a RD500 engine put into it (can find crap phone pics if your really want..) had a sit on it was soo light affter the ZXR750, he didnt let me have ago tho 4 strokes are to many 2t's are awsome

a bike shop that used to service my rs125 once had a mito with a honda cr500 lump in it! fuckin mental bike it was

one thing that i always wondered is that most of the manufacturers made race rep 125s and 250s, but why didnt they ever do race rep 500s?

i know honda made 100 500cc race reps to commemerate their centenary but all of them went to oil tycoons and rock starts and i bet not one of them has been taken out of their glass cases. i also know of the rg500s. but im talking about up to date 500ccs

who reckons an aprilia rs500 would of taken off?

The frame will have different bits welded on to take the yam engine. If you need to fix the engine, buy a manual for an RD. if you need to do something to the running gear, buy a manual for an RS.

The only tricky thing might be the loom, if bits of both bikes have been spliced together. But then an old 80's 2T motor doesn't exactly come with a lot of electronics does it?

On Wednesday night at The Waterman i saw an RS250 leaving, and then my mate said that he noticed it had 2 extra exhausts coming out just above the numberplate.

My first thought was an RG500 engine?

I didn't get a look myself, but I'll be having a good look if it's there again!
