ok .. i know its a motorway, but its quite swoopy, quite often has little traffic on it, and i had a quite memorable "absolutely flat out, didnt back off ever, not even a bit" ride up there once at the end of a hard days (470 mile) despatching on my original ZX-4 (which was good for 143mph according to the nasty man in the silly hat with the radar device and the white BMW - different time, different place, M40, beaconsfield.. not recommended).. cant recall the exact distance from the M4/M5 junction to the M5/A40 junction, but its around 27 miles ? i do know it took 12 minutes 30 seconds though, which i worked out at the time was near as dammit an average of 130mph ...

i was giggling like a twat all the way down the A40 to my home in churchdown.. highly recommended.

please note, this was before there were speed camera's everywhere, when they actually had to catch you :)
