Can it be repaired? I just read somewhere that radial tyres should be written off if damaged. It's a pirelli diablo. There was a small nail in it which I pulled out, this was before reading not to pull it out.

My luck is worse than yours -
First got the bike few days later i found my downpipes had rusted causing a hole, bought new ones only to find they were bent so the can rubbed the swing arm, now recently my current ones have a hold

.
The day i booked my bike in for tyre change i got a 4 inch nail stuck in the rear. Have put 200 miles one this set and already had a small nail in the rear (got it plugged though).
Turn up for my MOT and my radiator bursts (passed MOT

).
Speedo cable snapped te other day.
And to top it off, my oil seems to be disapearing, looks like there is a small leak around the rotor area

.

you can plug a pirelli diablo - providing the hole is in the centre two thirds of the tyre (I think!). Some tyre places wont plug tyres, some will.
You could always buy a repair kit and do it yourself
http://jocke.selincite.com/bikes/puncture-repair-kits, I personally had quite good experience with those kits.

I think they an repair a tyre is it more than 30mm(?) from the edge.
I know people who've had tyres plugged and it's lasted the life of the tyre with no problems! I'm not sure I'd fully trust one myself as more than a make-do bodge job until I could get a new tyre...
Also, I don't know if it's still valid, but a few years back looking into terms and conditions of some credit cards, if you've bought a new tyre on one the cards insurance may well pay out for a new tyre the same as if you bought a bottle of wine and dropped it on the way home. Worth checking...
EDIT: I think it was under the Accidental Loss/Damage clause.

is it worth fixing something that keeps you stuck to the read at speeds of 130mph. for the sake of the price of a new one. personally i would replace i did with my back tire. i didnt really fancy plugin it lol that little voice in the back of your mind would always be sayin wot if.......

I had a plugged tyre on ym ZXR, tested upto 140 mph, anyways, how often would you do in excess of that on the ZXR?

Tbh, I think I'm with Superman. I'd be disinclined to plug a tyre, even if it were a brand new one. I'd be gutted, yeah. But there'd always be the voice at the back of my head saying 'when will it blow, Vard, when will it blow?' One of my best friends had a blowout at about 70, and he reckons that's simply the goddamnedscariest thing that's ever happened to him. (he is fine, and didn't fall, btw).
*Edit* and I don't think it'd matter about how often I'd do high speeds, the little voice would still be there...

Im getting a distinct feeling of deja moo.... havent we been here before:smt005
At the end of the day - its up to you whether or not you want to ride with a plugged tyre. I know plenty of people that have ridden with their tyres plugged (in more than one place) and taken them on a track and have had no problems at all.
But if you dont feel confident with it - change it. EOD. It's your choice at the end of the day. I dont have any problem riding with a plugged tyre

Thanks fellas, I'm gonna get it plugged tomorrow. I'll ask beforehand as to the safety aspect of it all.
