This may sound daft to the technical minds of you lot, but I'm gonna ask anyway(that's how you learn new stuff).

I have a Micron end can, the code on it is cct 02/r. The bloke I got the bike off gave me the impression it was for the bike, which I'm not so sure about now. I can't find any info about it on the web so am not sure if it is the right one for a h model or a kawasaki even.
If I can get it to fit on my standard down pipes, which it should if I cut of the metal flange and get a longer bracket, will it have any affect on performance either up or down?
I did slip it over the end of the pipe and started it up. It sounded so sweet.

Also if it is for my bike where can I get the down pipes if needed?

Is it a slip on? You could make a bracket but it would still be abit of a bodged job. Andy off here did it and his lasted around 3 months i think.

what size slip on? i made an adaptor for a 65mm slip on to a standard bolt on pipework. tried it on a mates standard pipework amd worked a treat.

I dunno??? It slips on perfectly, but I would have to get a bigger bracket to hold it on. It sounds awesome when I've put it on, I just don't wanna waste my time getting new bracket made if the performance can go down.

How do you know the size? is it width of can? where it fits on? or other?

ive got a micron system and the pipe is about 63mm outer diameter and the can is about 65mm inner diameter on the inlet so it can slide on and then just be clamped up to seal it

The standard exhaust that bikes come out of the factory with are a compromise to meet noise and emissions regulations, so in theory an aftermarket can (even a road legal one) will at least be free-er flowing and so will give better performance.

Most of the time this is marginal - but if it does make a big difference then the chances are you need to get it set up properly on a rolling road, or the bike will be running too rich or lean and this can cause lots of problems!

Most race cans take this all a step further, and will give a big performance gain, but often only at a specific rev range, whilst giving a loss in others - for example, you may get more power at high revs, but at low revs it will feel gutless or jerky.

It's safest to go for the big name brands, and they will usually be able to tell you whether you can just shove the can on and go, or if you need to set the bike up to get the best from it.

If you're putting a whole new exhaust system on then it's almost always essential to get it set up properly.
