As the title says folks, whats the best product to repair cracked fairing? Was in halfords the other day and had so much to choose from think i ended up buying the wrong stuff.
Anybody tried to repair themselves? Any tips on doing so?
Cheers, Graham.

a mate used an old faring and a plastic welder which looked like a soldering iron. it didnt look too pretty but it was only for a track bike so it didnt matter too much.

yep soldering iron and a plastic coat hanger gets my vote too, halfords used to do a proper fairing repair kit.

I'll take your coathanger and raise you some plastic lock-ties!

they're about the same elasticity as most fairing panels, so actually work quite well, because brittle plastic will snap.
In my experience, even this won't do you any good on and around the actual fairing lugs, though...
There's a tin of gooey fibrglass stuff that works ok, but same story again with the lugs.
I'd advise shelling out for a proper plastic welder to do it for you.
EDIT: Oh, and I thought the Halfords kit was crapola. I had to take it back twice because various things in the kit had dried up (which was REALLY fun when I was halfway through the repair), and even then it was very fiddly and messy.

go on the internet mate and look for something called plastex. i got mine off e bay but its fantastic. it will look like the crack werent there, also you get a mould with it so you can replace chunks of plastic missing. iv used it to fix the clips on my ZXR they are better than the real thing now

plastex is fantastic stuff. I bought mine from M&P and got absolutely raped for postage, so that ebay link looks pretty good.
