Hello all, I am currently changing/upgrading various parts on my ZXR400l, looking into install a ram air system to gain a little more get up and go. Has anyone tried the ram air on a road bike? it has been suggested to me that I will find it hard to get it set up to run correctly at lower revs, obviously this is not such a problem on a race bike. Any information will be most welcome.
Nick.

i doubt you will get it to run smoothly through the rev range .. also, most (all?) after-market ram-air kits run without a filter .. and a large snorkel at the front of the bike .. chances of sucking in debris ? quite high.

besides, its been proven time and again that ramair will only really give you a boost due to "ram-effect" above ~80-90mph ..

worth it on a racebike, if everyone else has one.. i wouldnt bother for a roadbike.. but its your money :)

Cheer's for the reply, it is looking like I will drop the idea of the ram air, possibly more hassle than its worth. Its a lot of money to spend on something that may not work well. I do like the idea of it though. Its not going to be hard to get a filter of some kind to fit to filter the intake.

Cheer's Nick.

Even when they are setup properly i dont think the gains are that big anyhow, only a few horsepower.
