Fuel Where Shouldnt Be?
ok to cut a long story short. i decided to check the pick up coil stator to make sure all was fine as i was running outta ideas why the bike war running like a sack of toad. so i remover the cover and a small amount of fuel came out. weird i thought till i pulled the bike upright and nigh on a gallon of fuel pissed out all over the place. how did it get there. im dropping the engine anyway so anyhelp would be great.

Re: Fuel Where Shouldnt Be?
if the bikes running crap and your losing a cylinder wont the fuel thats pumped into the cylinder thats not igniting run down the barrels into the bottom of the engine? ok it'll mix with oil as well, weird one that!

Re: Fuel Where Shouldnt Be?
Shouldnt run down the barrel especially with the piston rings, unless of course the bore is completely fecked. But thats not where the fuel is.
That is especially weird. Is there any possible way it can get there?
Im guessing the bike is running better now that the fuel round there is gone?

Re: Fuel Where Shouldnt Be?
sure it was fuel not coolant ? cos coolant can find its way into the camchain tunnel if the head gaskets gone.

Re: Fuel Where Shouldnt Be?
definately fuel. i tasted it.im wondering if the rubbers on the float bowls are screwed but still cant see how that would let fuel down the crankcase. never mind. the engine is out now for full winter re-build. even base gasket as i didnt do it last time lol.

Re: Fuel Where Shouldnt Be?
i did have one bike that had seals go in the carbs so excess was being pumped into the cylinders almost constantly .. the oil level used to rise as the fuel got into the sump .. but then , it was always mixed into the oil just making it thinner rather than sitting there as neat fuel ..
