Ahhhh i think i have been done by this new helicopter insentive, i hope to god i aint thoe. coming back from ironbridge riding like a slight Camel when a car flashes up ahead points up an me mate behind said there was a police helicopter above dont know how long for but i hope i aint been done.

absolutely ridiculous how they can afford these new little helicopters, wtf it looks as if it would blow to the other side of the county in a moderate wind.

i very much dout you'd have got court but the only way to know is wait 2 weeks and you'll know !

I sure hope the human rights guys at Geneva pull out privacy laws about those things. Its disgusting how you cant go about your business these days without some fucker watching you. Ok they are to watch known criminals and apparently there are measures in place to moderate them, but how can they be ethical?

Its true im quite annoyed to be honest but apparently the police no longer give chase to bikes cos 3 in 10 (or somet like that) end in the biker killin him or herself tryin to get away. BUT i pay all the expenses needed to make my bike legal and its registered to me so im hardly gona give chase.... i just think its wrong cos how is it you need to warn of a speed camera but not a helicopter.
reason i think iv been done for it is the fact that its been all over the news an that. i think its only the midlands and wales at the moment thoe. so watch out it could be coming to an area near you soon.

You say about warnings, im sure you have to advertise CCTV otherwsie its considered voyerism or summit like that. A friend of mine from college works in CCTV now, he probably knows.

it might be worth asking around to be fair cos this could muck it up for everyone if it catches on. i think its just another way to make money cos how does it help! well other than the fact you get 3 points an a fine or possibly a ban. its just plain intrusion

Yeah i think its more to do with evidence when it comes to convicting people of crimes. But then i thought there was so much CCTV about these days there wouldnt be much point in having a copter. I doubt they would let this sorta thing happen unless it was legal, they get approval of the home office before they can use these things.

If a number of us theoretically were to complain about having several near-misses, or even to blame any crashes we have on the fact we were having to put our attention to the skies, how do you think that would go down?

It's a proven fact that in strict camera controlled areas more of a persons attention is allocated to their speedometer and the actual cameras rather than the roads and other traffic.

And I've been known to adjust my mirrors to the air in certain spots where helicopters patrol....

i'd rather they paid extra officers to prevent crime (not sat with spped cameras in the morning) than spent money on helecopters and cameras to watch me go to the post office!!

it is a difficult situation. I am a person against the way the world and particularly the UK is going with this political correct and human righs lark, so I can hardly campaign against such an intrusion as this wouldn't be in keeping with my views on other aspects and would be seen as 'I don't mind aslong as it doesn't affect me' approach.

I'm sure the issue will blow over within 18 months, those little things will be falling out of the sky like its going out of fashion, and the fuel will be so expensive the proper helicopter wont be scrambled quite as readily.

Speed traps I dislike on principal, but they do have some effect. I almost lost my license the day I got it, for doing 60 in a 30, it was a night on a rural road, and a fella was hidden there behind a bush as they do and he clocked me and the two lads I was with good and proper. Don't know what saved me, lack of a Reg. on the front perhaps, but anyway I do 33 on that road now always.

Have to admit, my 6 month ban did definately slow me down. Im not half as stupid as i used to be round town roads now.

but thats the thing about these chopers thoe if they went out doin this to car drivers there would be uproar. an its not like they are doin it on town roads either its the open road i dont know many ppl who would stick to the limit if they saw a huge stretch of open road in front of em lol (thats why i started this thread )
anyway more than likely it will die off in 18 months or so but the last thing you want is for it to catch on imagine that, helicopter gets called to incident on motorway incident over pilot sez ah while were up here lets try and do some innocent unsuspecting road legal biker.
