RATTLE

Ive got a w-reg zxr and its got a annoyin rattle on tick over that shuts up above 3500 rpm or when you pull the clutch in. Have changed the oil and no toad in that any ideas ?

mine does that sounds like a bag of bolts ive been told not to wrry bout it

i'd say that the clutch is on its way out its not the same as a ducati there not suppose to be like that

they all rattle! if it goes when you pull the clutch in don't worry bout it. if it f***s up, don't blame me. :smt004

i know the gearbox rattles but i toke it out for the mayday run yesterday and at idle there is a knocking noise from the bottom end! i have a new cam chain, tensoiner and guides in it tappit are all good? any ideas? :smt017

My ZXR400 never had any rattles until it went in for a service. Now it's got a rattle!!! At first I thought it was tappits :smt005

Took it back to the garage (Nick Lloyd who's been a bike mechanic for 35 years and has mechaniced for racers) and he said......"aaah sounds like a real ZXR400 now" :smt003

He said it sounds like cam chain tensioner as it adjust automatically and will sort itself out.

He did say if I was that worried to take it back but it doesn't seem to be anything serious.

well i'm told the ducati ss400's are actually quite reliable, largely because they are a sleeved down 600 or 750 making about 30bhp, so there's no stress on the engine at all!
