Ron Haslam Race School

Post by wonderpupp »

Did it tuesday this week.

Used my own green leathers and foret lid. Just waiting for my photos back from the track photographer.

Best lap time was 1'42.06 seconds ish according to the lap timer on my bike and the instructor, so give or take a second or half. Not bad for first time on track.

Umm, to be honest, I already read magazines and copy racers by hanging off the bike and exaggerating movement about the bike, so I can't say I learnt much. Just got some good safe experience on the track.

So yeah, I'm ready to go out on track and have learned the importance of warm tyres now.

Bring it on. Name a day for cicuit for us to meet and I'll come along. Anywhere. As long as there's a hotel or B & B with a bar to stay in overnight (yes, the bar).

no m8, you dont pay for a room you just spend the whole night in the bar. :smt003

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

How much was the day pupp, and what track? I crashed on my first track day, and my mum said she would pay for training at the next one, hehe.

All in for £249, they supply all kit and helmet and stuff too, and the bikes, no matter how many times you crash.

Donnington circuit. GP track.

ORRRR Find a novice track day, because I am led to believe they have cones out for that too and you're not hassled by faster riders, and ask someone to let you follow them a little.

OK guys this is going to sound a bit mad but what the hey.

I've just organised a trip to Northern Ireland (thats where I live :smt002 )
For a friend from Southhampton he's coming next week for the first road race meeting. (BTW we close the public roads here and make a race track of it no cars and lots of fun) My friend has never been here before he goes to the TT races ever year but has never seen an Irish road race.

Anyway if any of you guys wanted to come a see a real race on real roads
by bike or even flying over I'd be more than happy to help organise it you know ferries flights and B&B.
I'm sure I could find out a way of getting a track day timed with it as well.
I can promise you a weekend to remember with or without your bike.

Road race weekends are always busy so if one or more wanted to give it a shot I'd need some advance warning nearly every weekend of the summer would have a road race.................

As a starting point the weekend 22nd 23rd 24th June would get you a two day road race meeting and a track day on the 24th. There would be no problem getting B&B especially if you had your bikes with you as you wouldn't have to stay close to the road race.

Think about it :smt002

Hmmmm, not sure if my mum would mind paying that, hehe, will have to ask. Its just my mum worrying, I tell her its the safest place to crash! Had I crashed at 60 on the road, I probably wouldnt have walked away.
