i had the same sort of problem and it turned out to be the HT leads, the end that screws into the spark plug cap was all split so not connecting properly.

gotta be worth stripping the ends off and cleaning them up. then get yourself a spare lead and putting a spare plug in the end swap them at the coils 1 by 1 to check you have a spark from each coil outlet.

yup. what he said. also could be coils . i had a cb750 that was similar to that and it turned out to be split carb rubbers.

then its a fuel/air prob. check your rubbers. try putting the choke on and doin it. if its ok then the mixture is weak and vice versa

to test your rubbers run the engine then spray carb cleaner on the rubbers, if they are split or leaking the engine will vary in rpm.
