Lets talk about body-position and knee down....

All of us want some day to get knee down.
The only reason that we can't is the wrong body position.
I see many guys to lean the bike like Loris Capirossi and Toni Elias in extreme full lean angles.
The complain that they cant knee down.
The reason it that not hanging off correct.
So lets talk about right body position.

The guy in this pic force his lower body to twist around the tank.
He cant lock to the tank with his outer leg, and this make him to have a weak pivot steering.
Even his going to extreme lean angle the inside leg cant open because he use the inside foot peg to carry extra weight.

The guy in this pics use his outer leg to lock in tank and make him to have a good pivot steering.
His upper body is relax, and this make the frond fork to have less weight and better control.
The inside leg is with minimal weight and this can help him to use it for knee down.

This vid has given me something to try for next year, as I was leaning my lower half but not leaning my top half, so I was twisting my body.

How we can make a strong pivot steering?
When u ride, try to seat in the back. This help u to have better body control.
The outer leg must be lock to the tank, u can do it by force it to go up, and this help to lock to the edge of the tank.
In the outer foot peg u must use your foot to twist to inside. This help to lock in the chassis and carry your weight.
The inside leg must do a step forward movement (like u want to make a step in frond), this make your body to hanging off.

I find on the zxr 400 H model i need to get me knee in tight to the tank as my knee toches down and i cant hold a tight line
But adding to the issue
Foot peg weight makes all the difference not where your knee is
Getting your knee down is for tarts looking good with ground sliders
Get it in and out the corner as fast as you can with putting pressure on the footpegs is what you should be aiming for allowing the bike not to slide and making you have more control over the rear wheel
God i need to race again

I can't be arsed getting my knee down on the road, it slows me down.
But if you must do it please avoid busy roundabouts. We saw a knob ride into the back of a car the other day because he was looking at his knee rather than where he was going. Cock!

The cbr i have got at the moment was rubbish for knee-down until i got the suspension hardened, i was also riding twisted and when i did my first trackday at donny i was watching others on fast group when they went out with there knee-down and noticed they dropped there shoulder, and i wasn't doing that, the way i look at it is to look around the front screen now, one good tip i was given, was i loading the front to much i was leaning to heavy on the front, The first time i heared them sliders scrape was magical and now its like an addiction.....
have fun all

personally i think the zxr400 handles well enough that you don't need to get your knee down, but then again i like my straight lines.

You wait until you hear that sound for the first time - THEN you'll know why you need to get your knee down on the road!
