ZXR Dumps coolant

Was out on a ride with a mate earlier, and after turning around after a wrong turn my mate chases me and gets me to pull over.
I get off and look at what he is frantically pointing at, and under my bike is a puddle of coolant, seem to have come from the over flow pipe, was pissing out at first but then slow to a drip. Opened the coolant tank and that was over flowing when I opened it.
Left the bike in Bardney and went to get a trailer from my mates (first time I have been pillion in about 4 years, forgot how much it hurt my back :/)
The bike will start and tick over fine, doesn't appear to be missing, and when it happened the temperature was normal, not overheating. I also wasn't trashing it at the time.
What the hell is wrong with my bike!!! Please help.

Been suggested a few things, Head gasket, Thermostat valve or knackered Radiator cap.

Sounds like the head gasket is pressuring the system.

Re-place the Thermostat valve and the rad cap first then run the bike again keeping a eye on the temp gauge

Then i would replace the temperture gauge

My race bike sometimes pisses water out when its hot just check the rad and top up but we did replace the valve and temp gauge

Good luck mate any more advice ring Hodson engineering on 01732 463658 should be able tell give you more help

also check the coolant mixture, people tend to miss this out and if there's not enough antifreeze in it it can overheat quicker.

easy tiger. no need to scare him.

i'd look at the thermostat before panicking about the head gasket. just had to do this on our car (mk3 golf) which did something very similar.

Thats funny, i just came on here to ask about this,
mine pissed coolant out of the breather at the w/end, on to the back tyre un' all.
It had lost most of the coolant out of the radiator so the fan wasnt coming on which made things worse, and if left for a bit it would only run on 3 cylinders but only for 30 seconds or so then it seems to run fine, which makes me think its got to be the headgasket hasnt it?
Can anyone help?

i actually hard wired my fan to the battery via a switch. that way u have total control over cooling :smt007

mate of mine did that.

didn't help him at the mcnninjas donny trackday when one of the cooling hoses disintegrated in about three places over the course of the day. There's only so much you can shorten a hose.
