hi guys and gals
just built my 460cc race engine and started it up and there is a big rattle from the top end any ideas what this could be ( valve clearances, cam chain)?
also there is alot of white smoke. i st assumed this is because i oiled everything up when building it and it was just burning off the excess. however my piston kit i bought has 2 groves for rings but only one set of rings was told this was to reduce friction :smt013 could this be part of thmoke problem?

Do the instructions come with new valve clearances? If its higher compression it might affect it? Also the smoke is probably due to the single ring, in the racing manual it says to use only two rings on kit pistons, and then it says "increased oil consumption is normal" check that your not losing loads of oil, also does the 460cc come with a new head or do you rework the original one, check that nothing is loose and check the cam chain tensioner to see if its butted up against the casing, that's where I would start, hope this helps
