Zxr 400 doesn't want to start

Hi guys,

I'm hoping you guys will be able to help.

I went to start my bike a few weeks ago after about months of not being started and unsurprisingly the battery was dead and even after charging it wouldn't hold it's charge.

I have bought a new battery and could wait to hear my zxr start up but to my disappointment it wouldn't start :s it started briefly and then cut out.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Pete

stale fuel? did you drain the tank and carbs before laying the bike up?

if not then the fuel might have started to gum up your carbs making it hard/impossible to fire up.

you can try some easy start down each cylinder which might help you...more info needed.

Hi,

Today I drained the tank and put fresh petrol in.

I took out the spark plugs, wiped them down and cranked it a few times whilst the plugs were out but still no luck!

Do you think it needs new plugs?

I'm interested in this easy start product you mentioned, how much do you spray down each cylinder?

Thanks

Pete

Very Good.......

I cranked it without the plugs in to flush through any excess petrol.

I then put the plugs BACK in and it still wouldn't turn over.

I have also drained the petrol out the carbs and tried using some easy start but it still won't start up.

Any helpful ideas?

Are you getting a spark? Place the plug end on to the head and turn over, if it sparks then there shouldnt be any reason why it wont start as long as you have a good battery.

It also helps to warm the plugs on the hob or with a blow torch. Shouldnt be any need to flush fuel out of the cylinder, just having the plugs out it should evaporate on its own.

Are the plugs covered in fuel after trying to start? Are they soaked in fuel?

Right, I have checked and I am getting a spark from each plug (not sure if its a strong spark? Does this make a difference? )

Yes, the plugs are soaked in fuel but this is a result of me keep trying to start it?

The battery is brand new and I have it plugged into a triple charger

What's the next thing to try?
