If my tank is still allowing a dribble of petrol out when it is in OFF position, does that mean i need a repair kit?
Not that it's a huge problem but leaking petrol when the tank is off the bike gets things a little messy.
So do I need
a) a fuel tap repair kit
b) a new fuel tap
c) something i can do on my own by say cleaning out the tap of gunk and stuff?
Thanks in advance.

The repair kit is the best option first and you can do it yourself and its beat to get the kit with the seal that goes between the tap and the tank as well

Alrighty thanks for the mighty quick reply. Let's hope with the repair kit, 'OFF' really means off.

I had similar problems with my fuel tap ordered a repair kit and it's fine now.
only took about five minutes to fit, fitted last Friday and no leaks also fitted a quick release coupler.

I've just fitted my 2nd repair job - the last didn't last long at all

What a crap design with the smiley face rubber perishing.
The Tourmax kit I got this time had a full set of rubbers and bolts. Good job really as the heads on the small bolts were shot by the time I'd got them out. The larger bolts didn't fit (not long enough) so I reused the originals. The kit was £13 or so.

Yep, when I spoke to Cradleys last, I asked how many of the smileys face rubbers they sell and was told quite a lot. Its a crap design and as soon as it starts to leak yo uend up with no reserve as that leaks through = run out of petrol . I tend to just keep an eye on the odo now and fill up b4 I know it will go to reserve so that I don't turn the tap at all.
