Hi tightend the throttle cable the other day as theres just to much play in the throttle, start the engine and it revs straight up to 6000revs and if u loosen it a bit when u rev it the throttle sticks around 4000revs and slowly drops to idle

on the same day i installed the 33bhp washers and i read this could be caused by a airleak at the carb rubbers, i used sealent around the washers but not loads to completly flood the washer in sealent

so im hoping its not a airleak as its a right pain getting the tank, carbs of again to check

any suggestions ? right now the throttle is really loose and horrible

The throttle should snap shut nicely with no stickiness. So wind it open, let go, and it should close all by itself, you could try working some oil down the cable to loosen it up.

But it does sound like an air leak, unfortunately. There is a guide here on the forum on how to install the washers using some sealant. Make sure the inlet rubbers are tight and that the carb clamps are tight too. I think you need to put sealant on both sides of the washer not just the engine block side, as the rubber washer is known for flattening.

used sealent but only on one side, its a right pain of a job to do

iv got a bit stuck i decided to take the throttle apart on the handlebars to oil the throttle cable and as i got the casing of the handlebars the cable jumped out and now i cannot get it to go back together again, can someone link the correct page in the manual so i can sort this out ?? thanks

To be fair it is a bit of a pain getting it all back together at the bars. Keep at it it will go together eventually, just make sure you put the right cabl ein the right place.

What might be easier is to release the throttle from the carbs and pull it through slightly so you have some slack to work with.

managed to sort it after playing around for a while i worked it out and i was trying to put it back together completely wrong, cable now oiled throttle action felt smoother, started the bike and it revs up nicer and with the throttle cable tightend it no longer sticks, perfect
