Hi all, i'm new to the forum, just passed my full licence & just bought a 92 ZXR400.
Its got a small problem wich mainly effects idle, its not easy to start, and when its off choke it runs for a while and then just dies. Same at junctions you pull up after 30 secs or so it dis.
To start, (hot or cold) you need a tiny amount of throttle, any les or more and it wont start.
It also splutters very slightly at low revs, other than this it runs fine.

It would point to carbs, and need to maybe strip, clean and reset.
I've downloaded the fuel system section, but it doesn't mention anything about balancing, i believe there is a thread on here somwhere explaining set up, but I cant find it has anyone got a link please.

Any hits/tips would be helpful, also where can I buy carb parts/service kits?

i had a similar problem on a completely different bike, it turned out to be a faulty spark plug, maybe connected maybe different but try changing em and see if that helps.....of course i could be wrong

I've changed spark plugs and it was actually ok for a while, but slowly its got worse again to recall:

Wont always idle
Cuts out at junctions when you pull away mainly when hot
Then struggles to start (even had to bump it the other day)
splutters upto 3,000 revs

Was going to do a compression test today, but dont have the right adaptors

Any thoughts anyone??
