Carb problems

Hi guys

My bike has been laid up for about a year.

When I came to get it going this summer (and to sell) I noticed the throttle would only turn about half way. I thought this might just need lubricating but on closer inspection, the throttle bit on the carbs on the other end of the cable only opens about half way.

I whipped off the airbox to have a gander and can see that in carb #4 the throttle valve opens about 8mm, #3 carb even less, #2 and #1 carb not at all.

What might the problem be? Perhaps gunged up from being left for so long? Im unsure about how to clean the carbs if this might rectify it!?

Any help much appreciated.

Should I perhaps spray a load of carb cleaner down each of the four air intake bits onto the throttle/butterfly valve inthe hope itmay dissolve any deposit there??!

you can try it, also work a bit of oil in the return spring where the cable joins and at the pivots on the outside between each carb.

Sorted. Carb cleaner on the inside, oil on the outside. Lots of shuffling it back and forth carefuly and after a while it freed up.
