Looking for a pair of downpipes but want the option of a slip on and not the flange, found these with a removable flange but do you think their a load of crap or what... any advice is helpful!
If these are crap ill just wait until a set of beet or micron come up...

I'd be tempted by these. M&P do a stainless set of headers for £6 cheaper but then these guys are offering you the header gaskets in with the price. They gurantee they will fit and are offering a 2-year warranty. From what they say it sounds like you're going to get some extra ponies, and you have the option of a slip on. They're a proper firm with premises, not some fly-by-night flogging on Ebay.

I can't see what there is to not like about it. I would deffo buy these. I think you ought to go for it and let us know how you get on

Seriously though, MM has a good point. The downside to fitting stainless pipes is that you add weight to the bike as stainless is much heavier than the mild steel the OEM are made from. Titanium is lighter, but much more expensive. On a fully faired bike like this, where the pipes are not on show, appearance is less of an issue (the can is another matter ) so I'd prioritise like this -

1. If OEM pipes are not rotten then repaint and reuse
2. If OEM pipes are beyond repair then replace with titanium
3. If you can't afford titanium replace with stainless

Personally I wouldn't replace useable OEM pipes unless I had modded absolutely everything else and I desperately wanted another project. I can think of many other higher priority mods which would give greater benefits. When looking for enhanced performance people often look straight at exhaust / carb / engine work but the ZXR400 is seriously held back by its absolutely toad OEM rear shock. Replacing this for a good, multi-way adjustable aftermarket item is worth probably 10-20bhp for a fraction of the price.

I hate the flange though as i want a slip on link which is annoying as F*** lol

ill tell you what you need.....any stright through pipes get the old ones off they have baffels in get and stainless pipes titainium not needed there more for track use get on ebay theres a guy in leeds i bought mine off he breaks 10000 of zxr400's the twat haha but he will have a set i got a micron set then went on ebay and got one of these....http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CARBON-MOTO-GP-ST ... ......make sure you get the rite one to fit theres loads to choose from i promise i KNOW your bike will sound like a moto gp bike mine is the best sounding bike ive heared on the road BY FAR sorry to blow my own trumpet but it has to be done :D:D .....p.s its like identical to the racefit growler ...someone regular has one fittd one to thers on here ....carnt remember who u r might be redexrod not sure

brother in law had these and to be honest the flange attachment wasn't a great fit. We had to go out and buy a decent clamp to stop any exhaust leaking from where the flange clamps on to the pipe. We did get them to work with the flange in the end, but took some time and hassle. Of course if you are going to use a slip on this wouldn't be problem.
