Afternoon all
Right, I've just completed my zxr750 service and are now on the 400
Took it up the road for a quick blast yeaterday, pulls ok in 1st to 4th giving it a bit of stick then bogs down in 5th and 6th, a real fade in power. Ah me thinks, carbs need cleaning as this happened on the 750 and was defo the carbs, they were full of shite
Start to take it apart this morning, thought I'd check the air filter as well, only to find there wasn't an air filter in the air box, now I may be a bit thick but why no filter, surely thats not right. I presume having no filter will cause it to die
Also the bottom of the surge tank had been hacked away as if to accept a different filter (k and n maybe)
Your thouhgts guys and girls
Cheers
Rob

Re: Filter
for a road bike i defintaly would be having a filter in there, does it have an after market exhaust/dyno kit etc?as its possible that someone has bodged a setup for this, or as you say it did have a k'n'n and the cut it away to fit it in.
personally if it was me i would be getting a new standard filter and airbox if it has been cut away and start again setting it up properly

Re: Filter
Took the carbs apart to give them a clean while I'd got time, Its fitted with dyno jet needles (adjustable with 2 clips)(needle is set with clips at the top) and has got #96 main jets, have now got a newer air box with a k and n filter, the box has still got the snorkel on, I will put it back together and take it for a blast, do you see any problems with the above set up. I have a mate who has a yno so if need be will get it set up on there, its running a scorpion race can as wellextonyg wrote:for a road bike i defintaly would be having a filter in there, does it have an after market exhaust/dyno kit etc?as its possible that someone has bodged a setup for this, or as you say it did have a k'n'n and the cut it away to fit it in.

Re: Filter
im sure thats not far away but every bike is different, for the best results i would get it on a dyno yes, even better if a mate has one.
