I'm going to have ago abit balancing the carbs this weekend, I have a Morgan Carbtune, But I've misplaced the adapters which screw into the inlet manifold (its been a while since I had a 4 cylinder!!)

Can someone tell me what size thread is in the inlets for the adapters to screw into?

Its a L2 bike, Can someone confirm they're all the same as I intend to fit the earlier 32mm carbs at somepoint too.

you wont need the adapters, there are spigots to push the pipes on underneath the carbs. You need to remove two pipes to get to them. My guide here

Thank you Kawasaki for making that so easy! Why don’t all carbs have the take off pipes on the back! With my last VFR it was a right hassle to get in.

The bikes now running best it ever has, cured the lumpy starting and cured what I thought was leaking inlet rubbers, the carbs were SOOOO far out it was stalling if you snapped the throttle open. Hopefully its numbed down the cam chain rattle at idle too.


Only issue was the setting them up if i wind the idle screw the revs will slowly rise while turning and then suddenly revs, it does the same with the choke too, is this because they’re CV carbs?

Its because as you press on the screww it opening the butterflies, which in effect is opening the throttle. Top tip is to push down on the throttle stop (where the cables join) while you adjust the screws. That stops them opening while you adjust.

I did my mates VFR years back, screwing in the extension tubes was a nightmare, and to top it off they stick the adjustment screw right underneath too, right in the middle of a hot engine, and thats made worse by the bloody angle its at. I thought it was going to be an hours work, half a day later.......

Balancing a VFR is a doddle if you have one of those

coulda done with that for sure! We did manage to find an angled screwdriver drive bit, but it wasnt long enough so still got hot hands.

Morgan Carbtune sell that.

It's not cheap (circa £45) but it's all steel construction and the bevel gears in the driver are top quality. It lends itself well to a variety of tasks.

Either that or if you have small hands like me you can balance them by holding a small 7mm socket in your hands in the V.. be careful though it gets hot in there

its a zxr 400 and the bike does not rev up when opening the throtle but when you slowly open the throtle it revs up to 12000rpm what could be the prob
