Ram Air

Post by saltire88 »

New AMS Ram Air system arrived yesterday, This might be a stupid question but how do you get the choke cable and throttle cable back on as it is a sealed unit. Anyone fitted one before.

drill a small hole where you need them for the fuel line, choke/zip tie and throttle. You could get a rubber ring on each of the holes, or even some silicone?
I just drill mine tight and leave them as is, as the rubber/silicone thing just does you head in when you have to take airbox off.
Make sure with ams box that you neaten the inlets up. I had to take a fair bit off mine to match my carb rubbers. Then put a small amount of silicon under the airbox to seal to the head.

The bottom half of the air box is a tight fit on the carb rubbers takes a bit of effort to get the thing seated properly

Needs to be a snug a fit as is possible to keep it air tight

Any idea what you do about the breather pipe from engine, have the rest done after hours of messing about. It is a bad fit but if it gives me a few more ponies then I will be happy. Hoping to get it up on the dyno today.

you can run the breather into a bottle or drill yet another hole in the air box

OK back from Dyno and it is not good, It is worse than before I fitted kit. Was thinking of going down in the jets and using dyno jet needles. Has anyone any suggestions. Or has anyone ran a 400 with an open air box.

HELP HELP :-) :-)

Should have got scan of dyno sheet. it is .5bhp more but basically no mid range and it is like a set of stairs from about 11,000rpm it is a bit like it is off a cylinder. I was told start with 120 jets and normal needles. I have now put 117.5s in and a set of Dyno jet needles set at 2 clicks. It even sounds better now and revs out smoother. Will have to wait until monday to get it back on dyno.

Had bike back up on Dyno today. It is much better with 117.5 jets. extra 3.5 bhp. Not much but every little help lol. Top end is not bad but mid range still poor. Going to drop needles 1 click and see if that helps.
