Anyone tried the new michelin power one's on their ZXR? 160 section rubber is getting harder to find (no metzeler interacts etc) and the pirelli's although boss tyres are becoming astronomical. I held a 180 rear in the power one the other day and they are about half the weight of the pirelli and they are cheaper, so ont he surface of it sound like they could be the hot ticket.......but anybody who normally runs pirelli tried em and can tell me how they compare with levels of grip etc? Thanks in advance

The front is immense, you can really take the piss, but I tended to tear the rear up a bit, I think it was because I didn't seem to get them to the correct working temperature. I think with some suspenion set up it would be OK. The 160 rear has a different construction the the 180 so be careful of any advice like pressures etc as they are very different, make sure the advice is for the 160. I could really feel what they were doing. Finally, I went faster on them than the pirellis

well, i wasnt asa fast as i am on pirelli, but i had an out of sorts weekend anyway, and the weather (cold) didnt help matters. Got quite a lot of cold tear with the rear, but once you get used to the V front (feels like falling off the edge of the eartht eh first few times you tip it in) they are really good tyres. Im going to try another rear the end of the month at anglesey, and if it tears so quickly again its back to mr pirelli, but if it holds on a bit better than this weekend its a financially astute decision to run the michelin's........£50 a set difference!! OMG!!

in case anyone is trying them for a 400 the COLD pressures are 30 front, 28 rear. The 180 section only uses 22 psi so dont get em mixed up!

I'm significantly slower than Greville (Ballsoutracing), but found the same issue - great front feel once you get used to the falling-off-a-cliff feeling, but poor rear wear. I can't be bothered with suspension setup, so switched back to Pirelli.

I was advised to put the rear pressure up to get more heat into it which in turn 'should' help to stop the tear, tried 30psi. On a nice hot day it was clearly better but still not good. I ended up using a new tyre on the Sunday as well as Saturday, ie 2 rears for a weekend, the weekend tyres would do the next test day. I never got to get further with setup as I sustained a nasty injury and I haven't ridden since. I wanted to stick with them because I loved the front so much. I do know someone that used the front with a Pirrelli rear and it worked fine so I was considering trying that as well

I loved them. Had the Power one A on the front and a Power one B on the rear, both running at 27 PSI. Just bought the Power One V's with soft front and medium rear so looking forward to seeing what they're like as they've been described as "falling off a cliff" as the profile is sharper (i.e. less rounded, more like a V).

Well a wee update since last time; took a few laps to get used to these going from the Pirreli's but they are very good once you get used to them. Falling off a cliff is an understatement, but as I say once you're used to it they're very good. Set my PB at East Fortune with these. Will be trying the Pirreli's again though.
