Race tyres for ZXR?

What tyres are you lot using for racing?

I've been using Pirelli Supercorsas for a season, then switched to Dunlops for the last race of 2009, and really, really didn't get along with them. The Pirellis are still around £260 and up for a pair, the Dunlops a little cheaper, and apparently the new Bridgestone 003 should be worth a try. Interested to see what other choices there are.

If anyone IS using the Dunlops, what pressures do you recommend? It's possible I've thoroughly nobbed that up.

Cheers,
Ben.

I used dunlops for my first couple of years racing...................tried a borrowed set of supercorsas and have never used anything else since.

Dunlops made the bike very twitchy like it wanted to follow the bumps instead of riding over them. I was constantly fighting with the bike.

First lap on the TT course on supercorsas and I knocked nearly a minute off my best.

I run them 30psi rear 31psi front...................and thats cold

Having said that tyre pressure guages can vary in how accurate they read.................the guy who I get my tyres from ( a racer himself) told me that so long as the bikes feels right with the pressures you have in the tyres with your guage then that is the right pressures..................

You short circuit guys might not like the slower steering of the supercorsas but for TT course and roads here...............they are great.

I find I have no grip issues with the supercorsas either..............I use the softest compound............and reasonable life out of them too
