im pretty sure the fuel pump doesnt run when the ignition is turned on, only runs when the bike is running and the carbs need re-filling.
check power with biek running.....or does the bike not run?

hi mate,
have you checked to see if power is there when youre spinning the engine over?
if there isnt it sounds like youre relay or a broken wire somewhere going to the pump
if there is power then obviously there is a problem with youre pump,
try giving the pump a gentle tap, mine used to stop working when i was riding at times, i used to pull over, give it a bang and away i went, what i ended up doing was taking off the black cover on the end of the pump and cleaning the terminals and it was fine after that, but it was badly corroded,
also with regards to youre relay, or not getting power to the pump, just put a perm live tothe pump and test the pump that way,
when my bike kept burning out relays i just ran the pump permantly live from the ign switch, never had any probs

The fuel pump only runs once the bike has actually started....................and it stops once the float bowls are full it starts again as level drops etc etc etc etc etc etc

ok ,il test the pump again,so if it only runs when started ,now that my carbs are empty, how is my bike supose to start if the pump only runs when the bike engine is running?the relay is the metal component with the metal fins ,is that right?

hi mate it should pump when youre cranking the engine over, and the metal thin with the fins on is the reg/rectifier
the relay looks like this:
