good news I'm deffinately gonna invest in some extra security for the bike.

well went to pick it up today as the cops had fingerprinted it ( got a slight print but nothing that might be of use )

they've hot wired it from underneath ignition barrel. Pulled the wires out, twisted em together and gone for a ride.

SO its not a key. So wondering if its worth trying to fix the wires back in the old one or get another one.

other than that there's nothing wrong with it

what you wana do is connect a switch up somewhere so it like a second kill then they wont be able to hotwire it again, also a ground sump would be a good investment, and perhaps if funds permit, a disc lock with an alarm on it.

You can get alarm disc locks on Ebay for about £25. To be honest I'm not entirely convinced about the one I got - it doesn't seem loud enough and a few times I've gone to take it off and the movement hasn't set it off like it should.

A ground anchor or a Bucket 'O Crete is your best bet because you know they won't be carrying it away without some serious effort. But any sort of alarm which makes a lot of noise is good too!

disc locks come off easy enough with a claw hammer, or by rocking the bike bk n forward so it snaps, alarms arent much cop, tin of expanding foam usually shuts them up, if they realy want it theyll take it

Might be looking at putting a second kill switch on mine mate so they wont be able to hotwire mine

all it is, is 30p or something from an electrical shop. at least you know the buggers wont be able to start it.

how many thieves walk around with a helmet ready to ride the bike? i know it happens occasionaly as has just been proved but 99% go straight in the bk of a van!!

The harder you make it for them - the less likely they are to steal it.

Even if you can't chain it TO anything, if you've still got a chain through one wheel it makes it harder for them. My Squire disc lock broke the disc itself and still held up to an attack from Scrotes.

oh yer i agree definatly im just saying coz i think people rely on the locks and stuff far too much, they think coz they have a 150 quid chain or a fancy alarm there bike will never go anywhere,

well i was looking on ebay the other day at bike alarm and there's a talking one for 25 notes. But at 25 notes i tend to wonder how good they really are.

Well its in the back garden, and no ones getting it out of there in a hurry as it takes me about 15-20 minutes to get it down the alley ( terraced house allay between me n neighbour ) and then tackling gettin in, or out of rather, our gate, which coz of the turning circel you cant get it out unless you drag it around. Then there's the 2 staffys i have.

But yeh, its gone in the back garden, might as well take off some bits and polish em abd maybe get some new fairsing as my seat unit have cracks in.

But will be chained to a concrete slab ( hole full of cement in the garden. ) will be puttin a security light and one of them night time cams outside. Ill be able to hook that to a computer that can record it 24 hours a day. And ill put a long chain just wrapped around each wheel. Like though it over the tyre and back through loads of times. so if they get through that lot ill letthe barsteds nick it for the effort they went to lol

I've said this once, and I'll say it again. If they really want your bike, they'll get it. But what you can do, is make it so inconvenient to get it that they will go elsewhere.

Buy a good quality chain and chain it to something fixed to the ground. Some chains are better than others so do your research, cover it up and park it somewhere light and visible.

I got a tip the other day which was if you are putting in a ground anchor to chain your bike to, put it in a corner and it makes it really difficult to get at it.
It kinda makes sense.

But at 30p and 5mins to fit it's still worth it for added protection just incase
