Just spoke to Pete from the garage, all work done, both alternator and rectifier replaced

COST 230quid!!!!!! FUUUUUCCCKKKKKKKKKK!!! I got my headgasket, valve clearances, exhaust gaskets and new HT leads done for half of that!!!

How difficult is it to replace the rectifier and alternator!?!?!? Says it took him over 3 hours! OUCH!!! :smt012 well im now broke :smt009

rectifier is a 5 min job at the most and the alternator from what i understand shouldnt be much more than half hours work, i would have though a hour maximum to do the lot

alternator and rectifier ame to 120-130 ish i think, but then 100 quid and some to put em in just doesnt seem right :(

Yet some folks on visordown seem to believe it sounds about right

Will get price breakdown when I go tomorrow

Rectifiers new are circa £70, and god knows how much an alternator would be!!

Plus labour @ circa £30+VAT per hour?

Sounds steep, but when you break it down looks reasonable?

Yeah I suppose, its just when I was at the garage asking how much it'd be the guy estimated an hours work, maybe two,

Oh well

if u want my advice, just pay it

they are members of the outlaws, so unless u want them to shove the old rectifier up your japs eye, just go with the flow

gem

You'r getting taken for a mug mate. 230 quid for a rectifier change. Give me 100 and i'll do it for you in 10 minutes.

ask em for the old parts back and tell em you aint paying til you get them, they are still your property so have no rights to dispose of them then you can get someone off here to test them both.
