I also think that breathalising everyone they stop would also be a good idea. I've been to several other European countries which set up road blocks, and _every_ car driver / motorcyclist is stopped and breathalised

Sure, some coppers are on ego trips and have it in for bikers, but on the same note, several ppl on here seem to have a similar prejudice against car drivers.

At the end of the day, Ive said it before - loud cans are cop magnets. If you don't want to be stopped, don't draw attention to yourself
i dont have respect when i'm pulled on a sunny day for using an E marked dark visor..

i dont have respect when i'm pulled doing 30 in a 30 by a riot van..

i dont have respect when i'm pulled for a vehicle inspection by a patrol car with an officer that doesnt realise a vehicle doesnt need an mot when it's under 3 years old..

i dont have respect when the officer immediatly acts superior and doesnt even have the courtesy to greet me politely..

i dont have respect when a marked impreza drives right up my ass trying to goad me into speeding off..

i dont have respect for an officer that tries to pull me over on a country road and after me travelling around a mile trying to find a safe place to pull over on a twisty lane accuses me of trying to evade capture..

i like to see the stop checks where i see people being given eye tests at the side of the road :) that makes me happy.

regardless of their function in motoring safety there are far too many officers wasting the time of car and bike riders at the side of the road just because their wifes denied em a jump that morning, needless to say i wont hesitate to put in a complaint about any officer stopping me without good cause and i hope i got some w****ers fired, i'm always polite and patient at the side of the road. it doesnt help you later on down the line if you lose your temper, swear at them and then decide to issue complaints. conversly i've never been treated with anything other than good road courtesy by bike cops while out and about. it's only ever been officers in cars trying to waste my time.

So if you feel like your being harrassed, dont get angry at the copper just take a note of his badge number and file an official complaint. if an officer receives enough complaints against him he'll suffer the consequences, we live in a world of paperwork and if your not fighting him with paperwork your only falling into the statistics of rude angry motorists with no common sense.

That reminds me, I was sworn at by a bike policeman last september, I was really quite offended when he asked me (no word of a lie) 'where the f*** are your mirrors?' At the time i just took it but after he went off it sunk in and i really was quite upset by it. I wasnt rude and was happy to listen to what he had to say and discuss whatever point he had to make. But having to pay tax to pay him to keep crime down, i dont expect to be sworn at for something thats not even compulsory. Fair point i didnt have any mirrors, and they may be important for reasons he knows through his training, i havent had that training and if he wanted to know where they are all he had to do was ask nicely. Ive been spoken to much better for doing much worse.

So, another thing with the police!
Now i think about it, it seems my dealings with the rozzers hasnt been such a nice one.

Going from when i can rememeber:

Got pulled after overtaking the unmarked blue BMW, not over the speed limit and it was safe to do so. When he pulled me, he said 'oh err, i pulled you because the computer says youve got no tax, i said 'oh right no bother, there it is from the 1st of march'
He told em to get in the car, at this point i was puzzled, i didnt shut the door because i was in my leathers and what not and was boiling, he got out the car and came round my side and shut the door.
Anyway after trying to find everything wrong with my bike as he could.. he gave me a producer. (heres me thinking wtf, his computer made a mistake so ive got to take the time to gather my documents and find the nearest police station.! Okay never mind

Got followed down a country lane, for about 2 mile. I knew they were going to pull me, was tempted to loose them but i didnt because i thought i hadnt done anything rong.
Blue lights, pulled into a pub car park, and turned round just incase biggrin
The said, oh our computer says your dont have insurance, okay fair doo's mate it was 277.00 pound, third party from carole nash got leathers cover and 50 grand worth of legal cover, took it out on the 1st of march.
And then!!! oh yeah and you were doing 58 in a 30! < eh since when! I said right i know i didnt go over 30 until the raised surface where the 60 starts.
When i said where they said coming off the roundabout (where it would happen that a people carrier drifted over into my lane). < i said oh youll have seen that people carrier drift over and nearly knock me of did you, phew close one ey...
They said no didnt see that. So they magically caught me speeding but didnt see the blatent dangerous driving of another vechial.
AND THEN they had the cheek to say ohhhh your the famous Jordan Myers ahh we know you mate, your famous down the station, i was like wtf, so apparently they were taking the piss with an offence i really had commited back in the day. :pmsl

Anyway recent crash because a driver did a u turn without looking in her mirrors. Got my life saved by the ROZZERS! yeah!!! Called for the air ambulance ;)
Anyway PC TINA SMITH from durham, was like oh were so sorry, you were NOT to blame at all she should have looked.
4 months down the line they finally get a interview with the other party... because each time they went the other party denied them entry )yeah as if you can do that to the police - even the police said they cant legally do that and they were the armed unit hahaha) any way she came back after interview with the lass, and said yeah it looks like the other driver was to blame. Comes back a month later and says Oh your number one vehical! your to blame 100 percent. even though what you were doing was legal, a technicallity has show the car driver to be in the right.
Every time she came to my house, she was bitter even though i thanked her alot, she still remained firmly on the car driver side saying well it was a mistake, think of the other party she has a badly cut face and he car is written off shes really upset... (heres me fooking brain dead and with more scars than skin, and broken everything)
I asked about the other party everytime to check her prgress, i did get the oh she is upset this happened of her.

Its either she hates bikers, or doesnt like men?

Anyway best to be respectful, youve got nothing to worry about if you havnt done anything... unless you get a :wanker

Anyway to me thats 3:1 chance of getting dirty cop/fair cop - if i had any recall or memory i might be able to make that ratio sky rocket.

Bike cops are good though, it makes no sense,,, its like a war between Car police against bikers!!, and maybe bike cops against car drivers??

Every one should Ratio the good experiances with pleasent police : Bad experiances with naff police.
Maybe a new thread??!!
Be good to see wouldnt it

My experience with the police has actually been pretty good. I've only been stopped once because my tail light was out, he just said "get it fixed" and went on his merry way.

So far I'm 50/50 with bike cops.

One of my pulls was from one of them - I was on a courier job, and pulled over just by a Police stop check on the other side of the road so I could put my earplugs in for a long motorway run. Sure enough, just as I'd got my giraffe helmet back on, one of the Nobbers had ridden up behind me and decided to check me over. :wanker I thought that was a bit crappy, as if I'd had something to hide I wouldn't have stopped in full view of them!

Second experience was on a dual carriageway whomming it down through the gears at over 100 then caught site of the Police bike coming down the slip road as I passed it. I sheepishly slowed and pulled in behind a car trying to act normal, and he drew alongside me and with the biggest -ing hand since Gladiators, gave me the :smt018 gesture and then sped off! :smt003

It's still surreal thinking about the size of that big black-gloved hand waving a finger at me! :smt018

to be fair though, i have never been pulled, but have seen many many cars pulled. I think i have only everseen bike pulled. i believe the law states that any officer has thpower to stop any vehicle and check it for its road worthyness. I also believe that if you read the law it states a can must be E stamped, and if its not its illegal. same with light bulbs etc.
i appreciate that there are many dicks in the police, but there are many dicks onbikes and even more dicks in cars. treatpeople with respect and they will respec you. that orks both ways I believe. im also sure when you say " i was over taking him into a 30" shows that your obs arent great and your performinan unsafe manover, would be their reasons, but what do I know.
i just think if they get the cunts without licence and insurance off the road, im a winner!

Nope - it was still a few hundred metres before the start of the 30 zone (still in a 60mph limit), and he was in a black unmarked Skoda Octavia. He never even hinted at a problem with my riding. I'm a Good Boy! :smt003

overtaking isn't performing an unsafe maneouver at all if you've performed it safely regardless of the speedlimit in force unless there is an unbroken white line in the center of the road. performing an overtake as quickly as possible is safer than hanging out there with a 1mph difference in speeds. i'll overtake police cars as quick as possible and then return to the speedlimit as quickly and safely as i can and they hardly bat an eyebrow.

I think everyone can relate to this, i find its a hell of a lot safer a lot of the time to break the speed limit to overtake an unsafe driver in front than it is to sit behind them waiting for them to make a stupid move. Sometimes overtaking isnt about getting past cars to be faster but to be safer.

I personally prefer em behind me so I can shoot away if I see anything happen.

unless the road in front is nice and clear ill just leave a bigger gap between me and the tit in front, also if anyone is to close, i just increase the gap between me and the car in front. you cant be to careful :smt004
