I'm with zimm on this one, never named any vehicle except for when they don't run.

I'm gutted enough when they are stolen or written off - don't need to be adding a personality to that :smt009

Oh, and i do find it weird cause you might as well name your PC, kettle, cooker (wife not accepted!) ,TV - you spend your life as much with these objects as any other.

No, I'm not with you on that one. A car or a bike has much more of a personal connection than a kettle. It's a means of transport, it's freedom and mobility. Being in control of a car or bike is a much greater responsibility than being in command of a kettle. And if you enjoy driving/riding said car or bike, there's an entirely new level, because you enjoy yourself and feel more attached to the vehicle, in part because the vehicle has to have something to do with how much you enjoy driving it - if it was a sack of crap, you wouldn't enjoy driving it so much.

But a kettle makes you a cuppa in the morning and last thing at night, all those pot noodles when you were a young lad. Boiled the water so you get those freakin inlet stubs back on and allow you to install your carb's again, demist the window on your other cherished one.

Filled the bowl so you could put your menthol rub in it to clear your cold. Sterilised that needle to perform surgery on that metal fragment in your finger.

Filled your hot water bottle on a freezing cold winters night,

You have over looked the mighty Kettle my friend

PS. as for being in control,

You switch it on
It powers off but mine is a stove kettle so i need to switch it off
You fill it up
Service it, if you live in a limescale county - mines gets a polish every now and again.
Use it every day

pretty much the same as my car or bike !

My kettle is caked in limescale on the outside, because it's a cheap tatty plastic one, so it doesn't need polish, the outside doesn't touch the water, so I never de-scale it, I've not bothered with the menthol/steam cure for clearing a nose in about nine years because I realised when I tried it first and second times that it didn't work and was a bullocks way of doing it when nasal sprays are far more practical.
Didn't use it for the inlet stubs, just got on with it, wrestle the bastars, ya pansy.
Have blankets for warmth in winter, but don't mind the cold much, so don't usually put a duvet in the cover I use.
I don't really use it much. So in that part, I guess you're right about me overlooking it...
winks

Never been into naming bikes/cars, just makes harder when you have to get rid of them.

at the end of the day the kettle wont do 140mph while your sat on it lol and all those hours of caring and cleaning your bikes i know that does it for me once ive put in the man hours ive gotta name her, and in some way everyone feels some kind of bond with there bikes its different for other items but bikes can be either real good or a pain in the ass which warrents them to have personalities coz lets face it they do have character :rant AND you all know there little ticks so you know them and love them so START naming them lol :excited

Hi,

I tend to call my ZXR loads of names... too many infact.... when she doesn't run right.

Mostly: bitch or biatch

At the end of the day a bike can't pour you boiling hot water for your cuppas and noodles... well it can... if you're headgasket has blown. Wouldn't really fancy having bike water in my cuppa :smt019

Regards

Rich

Couldn't say, I've not driven either.
I'd rather a 7R than a CBR600, and I'd rather just spend money on keeping my 820 going than drive a mondeo of any age.
Well, maybe I'd have a crack in an ST220 if forced to. But I wouldn't spend the money on one.

The ZXR400 - Alacante' < Listen the woman was actually stunning and i couldnt say ner, thats a fooking country!!! oldman
