I dont think it is the tap making it run rough, the carbs are fed by the fuel pump, its not gravity fed so cant be overloading the carbs.

What's it like on tickover? does it run pretty smooth or is it quite lumpy??? Carbs that are well out of balance can feel pretty crap low down and even up the top end of the revs, so they may need balancing.

i got my carbs balanced in september when i had it serviced, would they need doing again? i just got back from a 3 hour ride, soon as the bike got warmed up it was running sound(left my mates bandit far behind) i think it just needed a good thrashing after i'd sorted the carbs out? when it had warmed up the tickover seemed really high reving so i adjusted the idle speed and it all seems ok.fingers crossed!!!! this might sound like a stupid question but how long before zxr's are proper warmed up?

If i remember correctly the running temperature is in the first section of the temerature guage.

They might need balancing again, depends how many miles you have done since september. But if its sorted since you took it for a good thrash then you probably dont need to worry about it.

Run a bit of redex through, always sorts your carbs out. You can buy a small bottle from halfords for a quid, just tip the lot in your tank and run that through, should feel pretty good after that :smt001
