To be honest I won't be doing much to it except the basics for now.
So far I've put a new set of plugs in, de rusted the fuel tank and fitted a new fuel filler cap because the old one didn't seal properly.
I've also cleaned and re oiled the air filter
Got her running for the first time in weeks yesterday, let her get up to temperature and the fan kicked in.
I had planned on doing a compression test yesterday when I had the plugs out but it turns out the kit I bought doesn't have the right size socket to fit in the plug hole
I have a new length of ht wire to fit next time the tank comes off, at the same time I'll do a coolant change.
I am tempted to do the stick coil mod but that is on the back burner for now
Got a battery charger with a permanent cable fitted as well
An oil change is on the agenda but first I want to flush the fuel system through with redex or wurth carb cleaner that somebody mentioned.
Then I'll work on the bottom half of the engine
My plan is to drain the oil and add some cheap oil with some of that engine flush, get it up to temperature then drain and add new oil and filter.
As for the carb balancing and clearances, I want to get used to riding the bike before I do anything like that, then I should be able to detect any problems.
I have a feeling the cam chain probably needs changing as well
I've been trying to identify my bike, I read through the thread showing all the cdi's and all the ones mentioned for h models are different from mine.
Mines the black sticker with a z on it, I'm guessing its because its an import??
And restricted??
I did have a photo but I've taken all my photos off my phone and forgot to post sooner lol
My speedo is in kph, rather than messing around with the clocks or cdi I'm just going to get one of those mechanical things to go on the speedo cable,
2 birds with one stone, mph speedo and a de restricted bike, I guess it still won't rev to 14k but I'm not that fussed
One more job I've got to do is wire up a flashing brake light, ordered one off eBay, it just fits into the existing wires I think, when that turns up I'm going to town on the back lights, they are in a right state at the moment, bare wires, shoddy joins, there's even 2 wires soldered together with no protection just sat there bare wire waiting to short out on something.
Going to strip it all out and replace with new wire
I was planning on overhauling the front brakes but my price list came to in excess of £500 so that can wait, the discs will need replacing come next mot
I think that's about the jist of it, I'll start a thread up for my bike when I've done a bit more to it
