Some questions from a noob!!

Post by Alexisssss »

Hello guys!

Greetings from greece!

I Have a zxr400L5 which is in very good condition!
I don't have this hot start problem..
It runs just fine cold or hot!

1st question!
I Have michelin pilot power on my bike..
Rear 160-60-17 and the front one is 120-70-17 instead of 120-60-17
I have been suggested to put a 70 tyre instead of 60 and the bike does changed and is a little faster in the turns!
Anyway..
My question now...
DO I HAVE TO lower the front end????
About 10mm

2nd question!
I have seen in this forum a thread about "how-to adjust valves"
I can't find it so could anyone help me?

Thanks in advance!!! :smt002

Mmmmm L5 is the most detuned version and you have no problems :smt017 If you want more power swap your cam's for : ZX-4 , ZXR400H2 , ZXR400R SP

DO NOT drop you front end , having a 70 profile is 70% of the width so you have raised the tyre wall which is same effect as dropping your forks.

Racers do this to gain quicker entry speed into bends with out loosing ground clearance, when you drop your forks you will scrape pegs, bodywork easily , coupled with a raised profile your going to have an off ! shocking

Do a search for " Valve adjustment " or " checking shims " you will find them :smt001

Welcome BTW :smt006

I don't have any problems mate!

When i say to lower the front end i mean...
My bike now is a little taller at the front!
Because of the tyre!
It is about 10-12 cm taller...
Sooo could i lower it and have the same geometry????

Actually it's the L4A which is the least powerful oldman

OK, you went 70 profile to get a different effect on the handling but now you want to return the geometry back to a 60 profile :smt017

Just put 60 profiles on

Try it out and see how you go , I've raised the back end of my bike and still like the way it handles others may not - all about personal choice and how you ride.
