Regrettably no i didnt have the camera on the bike at the time as it was a 5min ride into town to pick up some lights for the garage as i had to replace the rocker cover gasket and wanted to continue after dark if necessary..Jamz wrote:Unlucky - but glad you're ok!
Did you have the camera on the bike??
What I can't work out is how you couldn't avoid the car? Did you target fixate and just try your best to brake to safety? Was there oncoming traffic to stop you going around the car?
Hope you get it all sorted out soon!
I was following an estate car which blocked my view of the car as i exited the roundabout so i only noticed her at the last minute and i instantly noticed the wheels start rolling, at that point i was maybe 10-15m away.. (the cable tie on the forks shows how hard i braked) but i was also aiming at the closing gap infront of the car in the hope that she might stop (she was still moving when she hit me) so as mentioned above i'd say 85% braking on the front and 10% turning... the nose of her car ended up at the yellow line and i hit infront of the front wheel of her car, in hindsight i may have stopped or somehow avoided her if i had the presence of mind (while judging speeds distances grip and available options) to keep my foot ontop of the rear brake lever, however with that much braking and weight on the front would it have been enough? i suspect i'd still have hit her but i'l never know..
yes there was oncoming traffic and in these instances I dont think i'd ever go into oncoming traffic and risk a 'my fault' head-on collision, as it was her 10month old daughter was in the rear seat at the time and had i managed to turn right and not left i would more than likely gone into the door with the littl'un on the other side and i would more than likely hit the roof edge of the car instead of going clean over the bonnet.. things could have been SO much worse and it doesnt bear thinking about..
Thanks Jamz things seem to be flowing through the insurance smoothly for now!
