Hi All,
I'm new to this site (and excellent it is, so well dont to the inventor)! I too was going to post a message about carbs as my 400 2001, occassionally cuts out or I rev it like hell at traffic lights to avoid it doing so! I've had them cleaned and balanced, changed to standard NGK spark plugs and its a little better - but I still have a feeling it is a little rich.
To avoid any major stalls I run it with the choke on for approx 2 minutes, then half choke for a minute or so, is this usual practice?
Plus where I can I do much maintenance work myself, (whether it being car or bike), I did have a look at changing the plugs etc, but then decided against it so took it to a mechanic, mainly bcus you have to separate the fuel tank - is that true, or was I doing something wrong, no engine prop up stick?!?!?
One more thing I cant find a brake disk lock to fit and I'm on the search for a bike clock, (simple stick on) - any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Mr P
P.s.Forgot to say, I'm back on a bike after almost 12 years, got married had a kid and now I feel born again!

Your missus will luv ya for that comment
Clock - corner shop , 99p LCD watch , remove strap , double sided 3M sticky foam & jobs a good un + cheap
I find some of my poor running especially coming up to lights etc.... is the terminals drying out under the tank - gets darn hot on there.
Pulled into suppliers yesterday and it started running on three - needed to keep it at 2.5K to get it running
Off with tank , pulled all the stick coils , unplugged the spades and reconnected everything , tank back on and vroom ! All four again
So next purchase on Saturday is going to be some dielectric grease and all the HT side of the bike is going to get lubed up , the strage thing was after pulling everything and connecting it was noticeably smoother and went utter bollox stellar to the redline
But it's been over 2yrs since the build and well over a year since I done the stick coil conversion, guess I need to have a poke about a bit more regular , that will cheers the missus up
Fuel tank has to be removed to change plugs! Where do you think they are ?
Easy job and while your at it ge a uick release connector for the fuel line and install, makes it easier next time around.
Welcome BTW,
MM!

Hello and welcome, ive used a Motrax big ben clock for time keeping, but as MoriMan says, any watch will do with a bit of double sided on the back.
