H CDI

Post by ZX4R-F3 »

Hi all,
I am looking to fit the H cdi on to my ZX4 to raise the rev limit from 12'500 to 14'500 has anyone done this before and is it a straight swap or do i have to swap the pickup/timing plate.
CDI should arrive next week so any info much appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy.

ZX4 pulsar is the same, never seen the loom on one so don't know how that compares to a H

You need to check wiring diagrames for both bikes that the terminals match like for like otherwise your into making a patch lead, it can be a :smt017 to do but I managed one for my H loom into a SP/F3 CDI

If it plugs right on in and things go pop you know it cant be done - otherwise everything will work fine and you will have the extended redline :=)

Have you checked that the valve springs are same as the ZXR400 - if too weak your going to be asking for trouble !

MM!
Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !

Hi thanks for replies.

Cargo. I have bolted a 1988 ZX400 engine into my 1989 ZXR400H i have used the ZX400 loom and all ancillaries so i intend to install the CDI unit from the H to raise the rev limit.

MM. Cheers for info i have a full H loom connections are same will check wiring and pulsar if i have to swap the lot so be it, just have to strip the alarm out of the loom. will look into valve springs hopefully be the same as the zxr motor, the only differences i can find out is the exhaust cam has different profile and the lack of oil cooler.

Thanks,
Andy
