Choke cable not attached

Post by andrewstent »

Dear All,

This is my first post.
I have a ZXR400 L3 and the choke cable is not longer attached to the carbs, this is making it tricky to start.
This is probably a daft question but I can't figure out where it should connect back on to.
I have taken the tank off and can get to the carbs, but it wasn't obvious to me where it should go.
Can any one send a picture or drawing to me - this would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance, Andrew.

Hello Andrew and welcome to the forum. :smt006

See pictures below. Basically the end of the choke cable has a nipple that slots in the hole by where the end of the spring is, theres a small slot at the top where the wire fits through on the very bottom picture. If you push where the end of the spring attaches from side to side you will see the whole lot move, this operates the choke.

The cable sheath slots into another bracket that fits on the 3rd from left carb cap. Picture directly below shows just a glimpse of how it should be. The very left cable is the choke cable. Unfortunately i dont have any better pics but hopefully that gives you the idea!
