Jetting...

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Jetting...

Post by Chris#37 »

Afternoon guys and girls!

Weekend just passed i raced at Snett 300 and finished top rookie all 4 races so chuffed with that but...

The bike is running really rich so when i finish the race it just stals and is a bitch to start again! What is the secret in jetting the 400 right, whats better keeping it rich or running it slightly leaner??

Much help needed!

Don't run lean it'll over heat. The ZXR's have a known hot starting problem and there's a bit of a knack to starting an engine that's just been through ten minutes of thrashing.

What are you running now? and is it with ram air, open/blocked air correctors etc?

Just to give you ball park figures with ram air;
open air correctors 132.5 main kehins
blocked air correctors 106 main dynojets

Cheers

Derek

Thanks for your reply mate!

I am running the ram air box, when racing at snett i had to open the ram air box so it isnt sealed completey, was before hand!

Seems to be running fine top end but the exhaust is black after a race to indicate it running rich!

Aye running rich in that case; what jets you got in it just now? and blocked or unblocked air correctors some dyno time'll pay dividends :smt003

Have a look on this thread. There's a theory that by blocking the air correctors gives better fuelling/power at the top end. I've tried both and never really noticed a difference.
