FCR carbs from L-SP model need and the TPS sensor to work?

Post by ancozxr »

Can any one help to my question?

I know that FCR carbs in L-SP model use the TPS sensor and connect to CDI unit (Mitsubishi).

If some one use the carbs with the wires and the rubber for the cylinder head, can work on an L bike?

What i mean, if some one open the gas fast, the bike can run Ok ?

I have ones on my H and use with out TPS sensor - it is removed.

With the kit jetting the fueling is nearly perfect, the glitch they have is down to the needle but I cant source kit needles.

The FCR tuner said he could remedy by trying different needles until it was gone - I guess they will be what the kit needles used to be.

FCRs are different from CVK

CVK have delay and allow for wide open throttle in any gear at almost any revs as they take up the responce in their lag.

FCRs are instant throttle responce, there is no need to absolutely wring the throttle tube to get them going , You can in lower gears do it but higher up the box at lower revs they will bog down doing it - its in their nature to do so, you have to adjust your throttle hand accordingly.

Fitting a quick action throttle also helps you tame your hand.

Ultimately being in the right gear at the right revs you will never encounter problems with them and once you feel the surge as the accelerator pump kicks in you will never go back to CVKs - I have tried several times :smt005

If FCRs are so bad then why are they sold as " Race use only " carbs ? They dont come with a warranty even new ! Why was Bito employed to tune nearly every MotoGP bike at one time as his understanding on how they work was legendary , why did two stoke screamers employ flat slide carbs like TMX ?

They really are the best to get - just some times the riders using them and the tuners setting them up aren't :smt002

MM!

On the road SP there is a baffle and fuel bypass rail (this is blocked off on my carbs) - I am sure this is for riders who crack the throttle open. The TPS sends a signal saying they have been cracked wide open and the CDI determines wether to open the bypass circuit and starve the carbs of fuel so they dont bog down otherwise I am sure a lot of SP owners would have come a cropper at some point. I have the baffle and relay in a box so when I fit up the SP loom I will try out and see what it does. When FCRs are installed into an airbox with filter, once tuned they remain the same all year round and not affected by enviromental change. I run both my FCRs with trumpets - the character of the bike changes through the seasons, rich in winter and leaner in summer (I set up in the hotter months) Also when I went up a mountain range I could feel the difference too, needed to give it more to get the bike going - it would have been constantly running very rich. This bike on the dyno showed the fueling to be perfect and that was in April, today it felt very responsive with a warmer breeze now coming in :smt003
Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !
