What tyres do you find are best for racing ?

Round black ones.
I use Pirelli, Metzler should be the same I believe. I've found them to wear well and be very forgiving. I've also use Michelin and Dunlop in the past. Dunlops I like a lot. They felt great on the side of the tire. But they paid little in contingency and cost the most. Michelin's I've used as well but after a couple crashes after losing the front without warning I switched back to Pirelli. Michelin has new compunds since then and there are those that love them.

Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa's, SC1 front and SC2 rear, 30psi as far as I can remember (Oct seems like a long time ago).
Tried the Michelin Power Race and Power Race V's but didn't like them as much as the Pirelli's. Still far superior than a road tyre but I just preferred the Pirelli's.

I use the Michi's - power ones
Have found them to be very good and work well on my bike. A mate of mine uses the Dunlop slicks and he finds them to be awesome.
although i think there is a big shortage of dunlops at the moment.

Re: What tyres you guys use ?
what the difference between sc1 and sc2? I'm guessing one's harder than the other. but which way round. Must confess when i ran supercorsas on the road I found the front was through the tread completely by 3500 miles, whilst the rear was still a little way off the wear markers, and i think the guy said both were mediums. When i get them next i'm thinking harder front. Thoughts?
I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).

Re: What tyres you guys use ?
interesting that my front wore faster than the rear, leading me to aim for a harder front, the opposite to the racers.

Re: What tyres you guys use ?
The usually approach is to run a harder rear than the front, but in reality I dont think its necessary. In fact the BSB/supersport guys generally run SC2 fronts and SC0/1 rears to reduce the chance of highsides. I avoid highside by riding slowly..

Any one use these Maxxis??
I was at the Scottish Motorcycle show a couple of weeks back and got chatting to the Maxxis tyre guy who was trying to convince me of this (£145 a set) sports tyre. Kept on trying to explain it'd would be for race purposes and he kept on saying it's great for track day use. Big difference between track day and race though.
Just curious if anyone's used them?
