Headlight problem and driving test monday!

Post by ianbhp »

Hey Lads,
have a problem with my friends zxr, when he turns on the headlight it works as normal, but if he puts on the full lights or even flashes them using the pass button, they wont go off, :smt009 full lights stay on, even if you turn the lighs off altogether @ the switch on the rifgt hand side, the fulls still stay on? :smt017 you have to turn the bike off @ the key switch to getthem to turn off, he has his driving test monday and has to try and fix this before then, was looking at the manual and cant see a resistor on the wiring diagram, is it just the switch thats faulty! :gamer
any help appricated lads
thanks Ian

When you turn the bike off with the key and turn back on again are the lights still on full beam ?

Sounds like a faulty high/low beam switch or the pass/flash button

Could be a faulty relay.
Ill put my money on that being the issue.

Thanks lads,
if you turn the bike off with the key and turn it on again if you have it on the dipped setting it will be on that, only stick on fulls if you tip the pass switch or turn on the fulls, stuck on then even if you turn the light switch off altogether fulls stay on! :tease

where is the relay situtated on the bike for the headlight? :smt017 cant seem to find it?

cheers

I'd go with that too especially if turning it off with the key turn the lights off and they stay off when it's turned back on again.

I'm sorry I touched this now......................HATE electrics especially all the rubbish thats on a road bike

If i remember correctly, it is behind one of the 2 rear side panels.

a small black box.
If you goto halfrauds to get a new one dont get the heavy duty one as it wont work.
