Correct set up

Post by Geoff7yea »

Hey all!
Right so i've been browsing through all the info on carb set up's and have an ok idea of what i need but it would be great if i could get some feedback from someone who actually knows whether my combo of parts is actually ok :smt017

Zxr 400 L model 1992.

With the whole bike tidied up I have a horrible flat spot @10k revs where all the power is supposed to be at the moment, the bike just bogs bogs bogs then flies into the redline like a 2 stroke, non cool. Running to lean ya?

Its got a not-for-road-use- :smt003 micron can on it, the old airfilter was black and basically fell apart so i picked up a K&N for a tenner, im wondering whats a good/correct main jet size to use with these? hoping fairly common set up..i hope! was thinking 100-105?

the jets that were in it were all size 90. more because they were there than anythign else i put a set of 118's out of my non runner vfr into it :smt005 needless to say it didnt go like a rocket! no flat spots though..more just..feels slower XD.

Anyway could someone out there give me a bit of guidance as to what a good size main jet for the bike with this Micron/K&N set up is?

Cheers!

Hi Geoff,

Hopefully some one will pipe in for you.

Certainly sounds you were too lean on 90s , just an end can usually means going up a jet size or two so 98s might be more than enough.

Bike being held back means more fuel needed and power fading off over fueling so does sound like the 118s are too big.

Unfortunately I have never tuned CVKs to help shine a light on your situation.
